If our Engineering team is building the brains of Seravia, our Legal and Tax team is teaching it to think. Our research takes us through city, state, federal, and international legal and tax systems in an ambitious goal to learn and model all of the world’s regulations. As legal, tax and financial experts, we are able to combine our highly-specialized knowledge with the computational power of our technology to reach people across industries and borders. We are always looking for experts in the field with the ambition and creativity to tackle fascinating cross-jurisdictional problems.

Current opportunities to join the Legal & Tax team:

Senior Tax Associate

The Position You will drive the conceptualization and implementation of our tax products. You will manage projects that span multiple disciplines (corporate, employment, personal and sales tax, tax treaties, holding companies) and jurisdictions (US and international), contributing your special expertise in certain areas. You will be the final benchmark of quality assurance for all research and modeling performed by our Tax Analysts and Associates.

Candidate Requirements Masters or LL.M. in taxation or equivalent, with 3+ years of professional experience preferred. You have paid your dues as an associate at a big firm, and you’re looking for a change. You are ready to lead projects, create products. You want to expand your breadth of tax knowledge while deepening your expertise in an area of specialization. You are excited by complexity. Working across international tax jurisdictions is not a problem, but a welcomed challenge. You are able to act as a leader and mentor while constantly advancing your own skill-set and collaborating with colleagues in other fields. Above all, you want to apply your experience to creating substantive, meaningful work, and are willing to dedicate the immense amount of time and work that this will require.

Legal Associate

The Position You will help drive legal research and the development of our legal products. You will have a broad exposure to corporate, intellectual property, and securities law, and will gain expertise on specific topics through participating in challenging and innovative team projects. You will be exposed to many different jurisdictions, as your research will cover both US and international law. You will have a great amount of personal responsibility, as well as the opportunity to pursue individual interests and advance within the company based on your performance.

Candidate Requirements You have a JD, LL.M., or equivalent, with some professional experience preferred. You are ready to work for a company where you will help drive research and development. You would rather draft than proofread. You prefer working with peers to partners. You value the opportunity to operate across disciplinary and jurisdictional boundaries as part of a team of expert lawyers and professionals in other fields. Above all, you enjoy taking on a tremendous amount of responsibility in a rapidly evolving environment.

Your research will span multiple disciplines (corporate, intellectual property, and securities law) and regions (all US states, international jurisdictions). You will have a great amount of personal responsibility, and will contribute directly to innovative and challenging projects. As you grow with Seravia, you will have the opportunity to specialize in areas that interest you and advance within the company based on your performance.

Candidate Requirements You have a Masters, JD, LL.M., or equivalent. You are ready to apply your training to a company where you will immediately be able to make a substantial impact. You want to craft close relationships with a group of talented peers and mentors. You are hungry to learn through a trial by fire, to gain a broad exposure to international law, to break away from the strictures of the law firm world, and to advance rapidly within your chosen field of specialization.

Candidate Requirements BA/BS in Taxation or Accounting preferred. You are ready to apply your training to a company where you will immediately be able to make a substantial impact. Legal Intern

The Position You will support the legal analysis that forms the foundation of all of our products. You will encounter multiple disciplines (corporate, intellectual property, and securities law) and multiple regions (all US states, international jurisdictions). You will assume a considerable amount of personal responsibility, and you will contribute directly to innovative and challenging projects. This is a paid internship where the end-goal is to offer a permanent position to the intern.

Candidate Requirements You will graduate in 2010 and you are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in law or tax. You are available full-time until you graduate. You are ready to apply your education to a company where you will make a substantial impact. You want to develop close relationships with a group of talented Chinese and international peers and mentors. You are hungry to learn and gain a broad exposure to US law.
